With the teased return of the original Helena Wayne Huntress by Geoff Johns at the conclusion of Doomsday Clock last year, The Huntress: Origins being released to comic shops next week, and Helena Wayne being set to appear in the Catwoman: 80th Anniversary Special in a story by Tom King and Mikel Janín this April, it was only a matter of time before DC Comics would re-release DC Super-Stars #17 either as a facsimile edition comic, or as a One Dollar Comic.

Well, today—literally four hours after I speculated this would be the case—DC is in fact reprinting DC Super-Stars #17 as a facsimile edition comic this April!

Admittedly, I'm a bit disappointed it's being released as a facsimile edition comic instead of as a One Dollar comic which tends to be printed on higher quality paper and actually advertises the books these characters appear in. For example, this would've been a perfect opportunity for DC to advertise The Huntress: Origins and All-Star Comics: Only Legends Live Forever instead of reprinting ads from 42 years ago that are no longer relevant to today's market. You also can't beat the $1.00 pricing, but I digress.

Still, this is great news for a lot of Helena Wayne Huntress fans who weren't around in 1977 (like me) to buy the comic and don't want to spend $50+ on eBay for a mint copy. It'll also provide a great incentive for younger readers in particular to buy The Huntress: Origins trade which not only collects Helena Wayne's origin story from DC Super-Stars #17, but also the first four years of her solo Huntress stories. I'm personally looking forward to getting the DC Super-Stars #17 facsimile comic when that comes out, along with The Huntress: Origins this month.

I have to say between all the reprints we're getting of Helena Wayne's pre-Crisis stories and her teased future comic appearances as DC rolls out Earth-5G this year, 2020 is starting to look like a pretty good year to be a Helena Wayne Huntress fan. We might even get a live-action Helena Wayne Huntress in the upcoming Stargirl television show, which was confirmed this week to be taking place on—wait for it—Earth-2!

More on the Stargirl news soon!
