New 52 Anniversary: Why Did Helena Wayne Use Helena Bertinelli's Name In The New 52?

Hello. It's been a while since I've done a written post on here, hasn't it? And it's not just because DC hasn't been publishing any new Justice Society content apart from the Stargirl: Spring Break Special and the recently concluded Infinite Frontier miniseries. I've also been doing most of my nerd writing at CBR since early this year with now over 100 articles published on the site, covering everything from comics, manga, anime and television.

Of course, I wouldn't be a features writer at CBR today without my Huntress blog, which is now officially 10 years old. Around this time a decade ago, I created this blog to share my love of the original Helena Wayne Huntress –– the character that made me a long-term DC fan.

Green Lantern 80th Anniversary Special #1: Alan Scott's Classic Origin Story Gets A New Twist!

June is Pride Month, and while I was thinking of doing another 'Top 5s' list for Helena Wayne's most queer moments in comics this year, I decided to focus on one of her oldest friends instead. Another fellow member of the Justice Society of America who also happens to be one of my favourite DC characters!

Just in time for Pride Month, and just in time for celebrating the original Green Lantern's 80th Anniversary, we look at Alan Scott's original origin story in All-American Comics #16, as well as the updated version of that story featured in this week's Green Lantern 80th Anniversary Special #1 by James Tynion IV and Gary Frank!

In case this needs saying, spoilers ahead for both All-American Comics #16 and Green Lantern 80th Anniversary Special #1!

Robin 80th Anniversary: Helena Wayne's 5 Most Memorable Moments As Robin During The New 52

Robin's 80th Anniversary celebration may have come and gone as quickly as a tornado on a prairie, but that doesn't mean all conversation on DC's famous Robins have ceased. In fact, it's an ongoing conversation since each of these characters have strong fan followings, even characters like Stephanie Brown who was Robin for what felt like a few good seconds post-Crisis. Another famous name that gets brought up a lot in Robin discussions is Helena Wayne who had her origin reworked in 2012 so that she started out as Robin for the New 52 continuity.

Robin 80th Anniversary: Counting Down The Original Earth-2 Dick Grayson's Greatest Hits

The year 2020 has been a big anniversary year for some of DC's greatest superheroes. DC celebrated Wonder Woman's 80th anniversary in January, the Flash in February, Robin in March, and originally Catwoman was supposed to have hers celebrated in April. Alas, however, that's been put on hold due to the COVID19 pandemic that put us all in quarantine indefinitely, and as of today, no new DC comics will be out until the last week of April at the earliest.
